Lessons For Living Program™
The Lessons for Living Program™ is a creative-based curriculum of self-discovery that teaches youth elementary to secondary levels how to make optimal choices for their lives. It is based on the book, A Professional’s Guide to Promoting Self-Discovery in Youth: A Creative-Based Curriculum; by Lissa Masters, Ph.D., ATR. This book has been endorsed by such notables as expressive arts pioneers Shaun McNiff, and Dr. Natalie Rogers.
The curriculum is especially intended for use by art therapists, therapists, life coaches, and counselors to bring to progressive learning environments that have adopted holistic principles. Comprised of forty lessons, professional facilitators guide students through an exploration of the self: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually by using a process of self-inquiry and expressive art activities. This program is empowering for creating one’s own life masterpiece.
The program can be incorporated into school environments as an adjunct class, or after-school enrichment program. An allowance of at least ninety minutes is ideal for each lesson. The Lessons for Living Program™ is especially for students in grades four, seven, and ten; as these grades are benchmarks in child development. The curriculum can be repeated, as students will experience new questions and discoveries as they mature.
This creative exploration can be rewarding for all participating students. It offers valuable learning for creating peaceful and fulfilling lives. Students will develop confidence to be the person they were meant to be in this world while gaining habits for health and well-being. This program fosters not only self-awareness, but a ripple effect extends into our world to instill peace and unity.
